What you should know about New Brown Granite

About this stone

New Brown is a granite with a warm brown background and black and grey grains, an earthy colour that pairs easily with wood and natural tones. It is a practical kind of stone, on which stains and wear show less than on light backgrounds.

Where it is used

The name is a local trade name; by look and type, the stone falls into the family of brown granites commonly used for countertops, many of them coming from India. We cannot point to a single quarry without checking the physical batch.

Good to know

We supply it as a 2 cm half-slab, polished or flamed, for countertops, paving, stair treads and window sills, indoors and outdoors.

FAQ

Common questions

Is every slab really different?
Yes. Natural stone forms over millions of years, so no two slabs share the exact same pattern. That is why we invite you to pick your own slab at the depot.
How often should the stone be sealed?
For granite, roughly every 18–24 months depending on use; a kitchen worktop more often than a wall cladding. Marble needs sealing more often. We tell you exactly which product to use.
Can you match a backsplash to the worktop?
Yes — it is cut from the same block so the colour matches the worktop. We discuss this when you order.
