What you should know about Brown Star Granite

About this stone

Brown Star is a granite with a dark brown background, scattered with black and grey flecks and specks that give it a uniform, rich look. It is quarried in southern India and belongs to the family of brown granites also known as "star of brown," prized for their warm and consistent color from slab to slab.

Where it is used

Polished, the brown gains depth, and the small specks glint discreetly in the light. It is a safe choice for kitchen countertops, stairs, window sills and cladding, but also for monuments, where the warm tone holds up well over time.

Good to know

It is considered one of the hardest brown granites, so it stands up very well to traffic and weather. We recommend it anywhere a warm, robust stone with little variation is wanted.

FAQ

Common questions

Is every slab really different?
Yes. Natural stone forms over millions of years, so no two slabs share the exact same pattern. That is why we invite you to pick your own slab at the depot.
How often should the stone be sealed?
For granite, roughly every 18–24 months depending on use; a kitchen worktop more often than a wall cladding. Marble needs sealing more often. We tell you exactly which product to use.
Can you match a backsplash to the worktop?
Yes — it is cut from the same block so the colour matches the worktop. We discuss this when you order.
