Black Marquina, also known as Nero Marquina, is one of the most prized black stones from Spain. It is quarried in the Markina area of the Basque Country, and its intensely black colour comes from the natural bitumen in the rock — a detail that sets it apart from many other dark stones.
Against the black background, the white veins stand out strongly, with a contrast that makes each piece look like a painting. Polished, the surface becomes deep and mirror-like, exactly the effect sought for demanding interiors.
We recommend it as a 2 cm slab for countertops, window sills and cladding where you want a note of classic elegance. Being a stone with a strong character, it is usually placed where it needs to catch the eye.
