What you should know about Milky Way Granite

About this stone

Black granite with a play of fine sparkle, like a starry sky captured in stone. The dark, almost uniform background is scattered with tiny silver and gold crystals that catch the light from different angles.

Where it is used

The characteristic sparkle comes from mineral crystals (of the bronzite type) dispersed through the dark body of the stone — hence the name "Milky Way," inspired by the galaxy. It is a dense granite, well suited to surfaces used every day.

Good to know

Recommended for kitchen countertops, stair treads and window sills, where the black background with its discreet reflections gives an elegant look and hides signs of wear well.

FAQ

Common questions

Is every slab really different?
Yes. Natural stone forms over millions of years, so no two slabs share the exact same pattern. That is why we invite you to pick your own slab at the depot.
How often should the stone be sealed?
For granite, roughly every 18–24 months depending on use; a kitchen worktop more often than a wall cladding. Marble needs sealing more often. We tell you exactly which product to use.
Can you match a backsplash to the worktop?
Yes — it is cut from the same block so the colour matches the worktop. We discuss this when you order.
